Art in the Studio at Ink Run Press
Summer Art Classes are back again this summer for kids of all ages at
Ink Run Press, 387 1st Ave, Salt Lake City.
Each class will be offered for different age groups at the following times
Monday and Wednesday each week:
10:00 – 11:30 AM Ages 4-12
12:30 – 2:00 PM Ages 4-12
2:30 – 4:00 PM Ages 12 and up
Art classes this summer will relate to the theme: Art of Exploration
We are excited to include an end of summer exhibition to our program. The accumulation of the children’s explorations and work from each class this summer will be hung in the studio and we will have a reception on August 16th.
June 17,19 M/W Papermaking and Bookbinding $25
The discovery of papermaking changed the way we were able to record our history and express ourselves. Create your own unique papers using pulp made by recycling paper. Then using your handmade paper, learn how to make a hand-sewn book to record all your exciting discoveries and adventures.
July 8,10 M/W Mosaics $30
The first mosaics were made with pieces of colored stones, shells and ivory. We are going to use broken and chipped plates and ceramics to make colorful mosaic masterpieces. If you have any broken or chipped plates bring them!
July 15,16 M/T Paper Mache $25
What better way to adventure the world than a hot air balloon! Sculpt with paper mache and create a hot air balloon decorated with your own unique designs.
July 22,23 M/T Self Portraits $25
Self-exploration can be as important as any other. Explore the details of yourself both inside and out. Create your own self-portrait posed in an amazing part of the world that you would like to explore. In this class we will complete a self-portrait focusing on facial proportions and drawing, and complete them with watercolors.
July 29, 31 M/W Photography $35
The invention of Photography changed the way we viewed the world. Explore the beginnings of this process using cyanotypes and photography basics, while documenting the details of the world around.
Aug 5,7 M/W Ceramics $30
Through the eyes of a fish discover the mysteries of the ocean and the world of clay. Learn basic clay building techniques to create a unique fish personalized with textures and colors.
Aug 13,15 T/TH Printmaking $30
The world changed with the invention of the printing press. Explore antique and modern forms of printing techniques. Discover the basics of printmaking and create your own masterpiece printed on vintage letterpress.
